Yunjun Nam was awarded the APNNA best paper award at ICONIP’10

Yunjun Nam (I-BIO, Machine Learning Laboratory, Supervisor: Prof. Seungjin Choi) was awarded the APNNA Best Paper Award at the 17th International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP-2010) for his paper titled: “A tongue-machine interface: Detection of tongue positions by glossokinetic potentials”. APNNA best paper award is given to one paper among total of 200 papers presented at ICONIP-2010.

He developed a new research area, called ‘Tongue-Machine Interface’, which is about the interfaces and algorithms for automatic machine control based on recognition of brainwaves that are caused by movement of the tongue.

The research is co-worked with RIKEN (Rikagaku Kenkyūsho, Japan). The preseident of RIKEN, Dr. Noyori has presented a letter of appreciation to Yunjun Nam.
