Jongwuk Lee (student of Master&Ph.D. combined program in Dept. of CSE, Information & Database Systems Laboratory, Supervisor: Seung-won Hwang) was awarded the Silver prize at 17th Samsung Humantech Thesis Prize on February 23th, 2011.

He suggested in his paper an efficient way of skycube computation that decides efficient data set based on a customer’s preference. The paper is titled: “Efficient Skycube Computation Using Point-Based Space Partitioning” (“포인트 기반 공간분할을 이용한 효율적인 스카이큐브 계산 방법”).

He received a scholarship of 5 million won and a chance to visit an oversea Samsung Electronics research center.

Samsung Humantech Thesis Prize is held by Samsung Electronics. In this year, over 1,400 papers are submitted and evaluated.
